Missing hiker found on Montana mountain
PLAINS, Mont. (AP) - A hiker missing on Baldy Mountain near here for two days was found Thursday afternoon, alive and well.
More than 30 volunteers had joined members of the Sanders County Search and Rescue in looking for Caleb Ryan, 24. He'd been missing since getting separated from a group that climbed the mountain Tuesday. They were heading down the mountain when Ryan apparently became lost in fog.
The rest of the group returned to their vehicle and contacted authorities.
Two friends who were involved in the search narrowly avoided an avalanche and eventually were brought out on snowmobile Thursday morning by other searchers. They also were unharmed.
