HELENA (AP) — Two men were killed in weekend crashes on Montana’s roadways, the Montana Highway Patrol said Tuesday.

A car went out of control on a rural road near Libby early Sunday and overturned. The driver, a 26-year-old Lincoln County man, was ejected and pronounced dead at the Kalispell hospital. His name has not been released.

On Saturday, a vehicle being pursued by Bureau of Indian Affairs officers near Browning skidded through an intersection with U.S. Highway 2 and struck a building, killing the driver. Jonathan Arrow Top Knot, 20, of Browning, died in the crash. BIA officials say they were trying to stop Arrow Top Knot’s vehicle for a traffic violation.

The deaths raise the state highway fatality toll to 97, compared to 87 on May 20, 2006.
