James Taylor, Ozzie Osbourne to have concerts in Montana
By The Associated Press - 09/19/07
Taylor will play at MetraPark in Billings on Oct. 26 and the Adams Center at the University of Montana in Missoula on Oct. 27.
Osbourne and Zombie are scheduled to play MetraPark on Nov. 9.
Tickets for Taylor’s concert in Missoula are scheduled to go on sale Friday at noon for $59 and $79, plus a $2 fee.
Only 4,360 tickets will be available because there will be no seating to the rear or sides of the stage.
After major problems with sales of Elton John tickets, in which people who stood in line at ticket outlets were mostly shut out, some of the tickets for Taylor’s concert will be reserved for the outlets. The Adams Center will have 800 tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis, while three other ticket outlets — Worden’s Market, Southgate Mall and the Source in the University Center — will share 750 tickets. The rest of the tickets will be available online at www.griztix.com from noon to 1:30 p.m. After 1:30 p.m., any remaining tickets will be sold at ticket outlets, on the Internet and by phone at (406) 243-4851, with all drawing from the same pool of tickets, said Marlene Hendrickson, adviser for UM Productions, which is producing the concert.
Tickets for Taylor’s Billings concert are priced at: $39.50, $59.50, and $69.50 and go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. at MetraPark, Rimrock Mall, local Cellular Plus Stores and online or by phone.
Tickets for the Osbourne-Zombie concert in Billings go on sale on Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. Prices have not been set, but are expected to range between $50 and $90, said Sue Devries, the box officer manager at MetraPark.
Taylor, 59, has sold more than 40 million albums. He is best known for hits like ‘‘Sweet Baby James,’’ ‘‘You’ve Got a Friend,’’ ‘‘Handyman,’’ ‘‘Up on the Roof’’ and ‘‘Shower the People.’’
Gale Price, the former student director of UM Productions, who now works for AEG Live, said Taylor will bring his full band and there will be no opening act. The concerts are billed as ‘‘An Evening with James Taylor.’’
Osbourne’s Billings performance is part of his 40-show North American fall tour, which starts Oct. 18 in Seattle. His latest album, ‘‘Black Rain,’’ was released in May. He also starred with his wife, Sharon, and children Kelly and Jack in the MTV reality series ‘‘The Osbournes’’ from 2002 to 2005.
