U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., this week introduced a resolution in the House congratulating Carroll College’s Fighting Saints football players, coaches and fans on their fifth NAIA national title.

In a statement, the congressman said the Saints define “champion.”

“Not only have they won the title five out of the last six years but they’ve done it in a way that all Montanans can be proud of, with class and dignity,” Rehberg said.

The Saints defeated the University of Sioux Falls Cougars 17-9 on Saturday, completing an undefeated season.

Rehberg spokesman Bridger Pierce said the resolution likely will go to a House floor vote after Congress returns from its winter break next month.
