Fire victims request help
By Larry Kline - Independent Record - 02/22/08
A fire Saturday destroyed a bedroom and damaged a bathroom at 3590 Bahny Road, north of East Helena.
Amanda Grewatz was home with two of her four children when the fire started in the kids’ bedroom. All escaped safely, but the Grewatz family guesses the blaze caused about $3,000 in damage, sister Tess Grewatz said this week.
An account has been set up in the family’s name at Valley Bank on North Montana.
Donations of building materials, children’s clothing and toys also are being accepted.
The family needs sheet rock, insulation, windows, 18 sheets of three-eighths-inch plywood, a light fixture and wiring, a room door, a closet door, door frames, paneling, carpet, paint, linoleum for the bathroom, base board, trim materials, a faucet, a shower head, caulking and silicone. The family also needs young boys clothing (sizes 4 and 6 and infant size 18 months), a bunk-bed set, toy storage bins, blinds and curtains.
Materials can be dropped off at the site. For more information, call 594-0532 or 202-0744.
