Fuzesy named All-American

By Independent Record - 03/28/08

Carroll College guard Jolene Fuzesy was named a second-team NAIA All-American recently.

Fuzesy, a senior from Malta, was the most accurate 3-point shooter in the history of college basketball. She connected on 51.6 percent of her 3-point shots for her career. That mark was enough to put her ahead of Scott Martin of NCAA Division II Rollins College, who boasted of a 51.3 percentage.

She is also second on the list for 3-pointers made in a career.

Fuzesy averaged 18.94 points per game this season to lead the Saints. She shot 50 percent from the field and led the Saints to a quarterfinal berth in the NAIA tournament.

It was the first time in school history the Saints have advanced to that round.

Fuzesy was the only Frontier Conference player to make the second-team. She was an honorable mention All American in 2007.

Shannon Evans of Westminster College and Sadie Short of Lewis-Clark State were named to the third team.

Laura Keaster of the University of Great Falls and Jade Fulbright of Lewis-Clark State were given honorable mention status.
