Schedule set for Democratic dinner
By Independent Record - 04/03/08
The annual Mansfield-Metcalf dinner is being held at the Butte Civic Center this year.
A large turnout of 4,000 is expected because New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama are both scheduled to speak.
Party chairman Dennis McDonald will open the dinner at 6 p.m., and will be followed by Obama at 6:40 p.m.
Clinton is scheduled to take the stage at 9 p.m., following remarks from U.S. Sens. Max Baucus and Jon Tester, Gov. Brian Schweitzer and South Dakota Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin.
The Montana Democratic Party will be running a shuttle bus from Helena to Butte for the dinner. The bus will leave from the Kmart parking lot at 2:30 p.m. and return following the dinner speeches. To reserve a spot on the bus, call 442-9520. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased from the bus driver.
