Obama’s campaign

By Arlene M. Carlson, P.O. Box 6162 - 05/14/08

We, here in Montana, are being bombarded with Barack Obama’s ads and telephone calls! Last night was the last straw when I was called a “racist” by one of Obama’s campaign workers! I did not know that by stating I will not be voting for Mr. Obama and referring to him as the “first black candidate” I was a racist! I know I am biased towards Senator Clinton for I feel she is more qualified and has the experience and I know about Senator Clinton, but what about Obama and his ties to Tony Rezko — will he be indicted for criminal wrongdoings? What about his ties to Bill Ayers, the known terrorist of the l970s? What about how Obama preaches to the American people from his pulpit or his Teleprompters, just like Rev. Wright? His arrogance is very noticeable when he speaks! What about the $80 million from the oil companies and his Pacs? I am not fooled by Obama or the pundits and the push by the Washington insiders for Obama because they hate Hillary Clinton. I do know that a vote for Obama in June is a vote for John McCain in November!

" The phrase "separation of church and state", is generally traced to an 1802 letter by Thomas Jefferson, where he spoke of the combined effect of the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment. It has since been quoted in several opinions handed down by the United States Supreme Court. Article Six of the United States Constitution provides that "no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States". Prior to the inclusion of the Bill of Rights, this was the only mention of religious freedom in the Constitution. The first amendment to the US Constitution states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" The two parts, known as the "establishment clause" and the "free exercise clause" respectively, form the textual basis for the Supreme Court's interpretations of the "separation of church and state" doctrine "

" As an 85 year old male citizen from Montana - I had not made my choice for the President until just recently.

Visiting family in Portland I had the opportunity to attend both candidates rallies and made my decision there.

Sen Obama is a great orator to be sure - he can move a crowd into a frenzy with just his two words of HOPE and CHANGE - the younger voters almost look to him as a rock star - however I felt he was rushing us through his speech assuming he was getting our votes so he could move on to more important things such as HIS general election - not so fast - I am from Montana - you do not dismiss me that easily and assume my vote -you have to earn it. The word CHANGE - what and how - Washington DC politics - yet accept the endorsements of them - there certainly is a payback for that -and at the end of the day when I was sitting back and trying to recall what I had learned from the speech I came up with NOTHING just an empty suit.

On the other hand - Clinton was WARM, compassionate, sincere and felt she was genuine in wanting to be there and listen to our questions and gave us SOLID SOLUTIONS to the economy, student loans, family owned farms, and healthcare to name a few.

To quote another bloggers word on HOPE - that would be when Bill Clinton and Brad Pitt went to New Orleans to give that community support and HOPE for reconstruction and a new life - Hillary attended a rally there a little later for the same purpose even THOUGH THEY HAD NOT GIVEN HER THEIR VOTE - that is an important statement Helena - Obama was too busy with his campaign to attend - is that the change he is talking about in Washington DC politics??

I am still not over the Pastor - bothers me that after 20 years he did not know his viewpoints - I do not want someone in the White House that might just have the same problem with the rest of the World - let alone Pastor Wright, Ayers and Rezko that we know about.

I know the polls show that Obama is ahead here in Montana but my fellow citizens in Monatana and especially here in Helena please read, research and see how has the best policies for US - and give her the popular vote so she can go to the convention and fight FOR US -the only experienced candidate with the fight, the vision, the plans and the ability to lead us forward to the future.

GOD BLESS OUR AMERICA AND MONTANA "

Bill Clinton's betrayal of his wife doesn't bother me nearly as much as GWBush's betrayal of America. I've never understood why right-wingers consider sexual immorality to be the worst kind, especially when people's lives are at stake, when their civl rights are being violated, when the constitution is being subverted.

Yes, the constitution is a living document, and only the most extreme revisionists of American history say otherwise. The constitution defines its own amendment process, conceding that the people might some day have something to add or take away. This notion of "strict constructionism" is just an attempt by the far right to make you conflate the constitution with the Bible, never to be questioned or interpreted. Jerk your knee and say 'amen.' Hey, let's bring back slavery, disenfranchise women, minorities and people under 18.

The concept of separation of church and state is clearly in the constitution. Your insistence on finding the exact phrase is laughable. Here are some other phrases you won't find in the constitution:

"Innocent until proven guilty"
"separation of powers"
"equal rights"

Your interpretation of the First Amendment's separation clause invites theocracy. Keeping religion out of government and keeping government out of religion are the same thing. Why do conservatives not understand that their own religious freedom is at risk when they attempt to tear down the wall of separation?

And how can you claim to believe in God-given rights and then refuse to respect those same rights in non-citizens? Have they no right to life and liberty and due process of law?

The constitution specifically mentions treaties, which are a form of international law. You seem to be suggesting that we either have no dealings with foreign states (the mindset of the real "appeasers" who kept us out of WWII), or be free to break our word when it suits us (the mindset of GWBush and his regime). But then, the constitution doesn't mention "honor" or "honesty" either, so I guess you don't care for such whimsy.

Oh, by the way, you might want to grab a dictionary and look up the word "whom." It is used with the object of a sentence, not the subject. "

" "adam", a lot you know. Given President Bush's continued surrender to the hispanics to create a guest worker program and amnesty for the tens of millions already here illegally, he wouldn't get my vote.

If Clinton had been eligible for a third term would you have voted for him even after knowing what you know about his womanizing in the halls of the PEOPLE'S HOUSE, his sexual harrassment, and possible charges of rape?

And you don't hurl hatred towards those who disagree with you? Give us a break. The democrat view of the U.S. Constitution being a living document tells me they are more than willing to comply with those portions which fit their agenda.

Where in the U.S. Constitution, the amendments thereto, or the Bill of Rights does it say "seperation of church and state". The whole argument is a means for democrats to eliminate organized religion from America. Democrats preach about seperation of church and state, yet they find it convenient to ignore that tenant by making a public appearance in a church and stand at the pulpit to promote their campaign. The concept of seperation of church and statewas to PREVENT the creation of a U.S. version of the CHURCH OF ENGLAND where they were persecuted.

Civil liberties? Yep, lets grant U.S. civil liberties to NON-CITIZENS.

International Law? I take it you are more than willing to surrender your constitutional legal rights to foreign governments. I'm sure this has to do with certain America-hating countries whom want to try President Bush and Vice President Cheney. I'm sure you would change your tune to fit the circumstances if those America-hating countries wanted to drag a defeatocrat president before an international tribunal - your partisanship is transparent.

Sure Jesus was an appeaser, but I guess you forgot that appeasement resulted in his death. What does that say about appeasers today?

If someone wants to pick a fight you politely thank them for their time and end the call. The last thing Obama's campaign wants to do is offend voters. You are also required to identify yourself when you call.

In North Carolina and Virginia, a pro-Clinton 527 group called Women's Voices Women Vote made deceptive calls targeting African American voters designed to suppress that vote. There have been similar examples in other states. If the incident alleged in Ms. Carlson's letter actually occurred, I suspect that it was not Obama's campaign doing the calling. "

The hatred you hurl at anyone who disagrees with you reveals your shallow and ignorant concept of patriotism. So when you say such patently absurd things like "Democrats want bin Laden for president," you just make the rest of us laugh. You obviously consider the US constitution to be an impediment to the goals of the far-right theocratic elitists.

Separation of church and state? Un-American.

Civil liberties? For the privileged.

International law? We don't need no steenkin' badges.

Fiscal security? Follow the plutocrats.

" "gun" - the majority of folks are concerned about Obama's judgement, or lack thereof.

How could he have not sat in the pew and listening to Rev Wright and not come away from that experience and not believe alot of that racists hate filled rantings?

Obama's association with an unreptentant domestic terrorist should cause a lot of folks to pause and ponder his judgement.

Obama wants to make McCain's age an issue. So be it, however, all one has to do is look at Obama's YOUTH and see a lack of EXPERIENCE.

I don't much care for McCain's stance on immigration. I want the southern border locked down tight and when police and ICE/Homeland Security personnel conduct sweeps, I want those here illegally put on a bus and shipped south of the border. I want an end to automatic citizenship for children born to illegals. Many mexican women wait south of the border until they begin labor pains and then cross the border with the knowledge that if their child is born on U.S. soil it will automatically become a citizen. Barring that, the child should remain in the U.S., but the mother should be shipped home.

Border states are the big losers with AMERICANS having to pay higher taxes because of illegals attending schools and healthcare costs have increased across the board because they show up for medical care and do not pay their hospital bill.

I have no problem with immigration as long as those coming to this country do so LEGALLY.

Because of the liberal media protecting Obama, the voters are being kept in the dark [no pun intended] about WHO Obama really is. The liberal media has no problem conducting search and destroy investigations into republican politicians, but they seem to draw the line at doing it to defeatocrats.

How can voters cast an INFORMED vote without knowing who Obama is and what he really stands for?

" Hillary's record of "Lifetime" experience:
Take Pakistan: If Hillary was President right now, I have no doubt Pakistan would not be erupting in violence. As a matter of fact, Bhutto's assassination would most likely be spun as a suicide. Key evidence would be covered up, facts would be conveniently realigned and, with the help of the media, as in the Vince Foster 'suicide,' anyone who questioned the prevailing line would be quickly consigned to the ranks of the vast right wing conspiracy. Period. Case closed.

Hillary's past experience would prove invaluable in confronting a host of other important issues facing America today. Recently, Hillary proclaimed that if she were elected president, the price of oil would immediately drop. Just so. Hillary's past experience in the futures market, which netted her a cool $99,537.00 on a total investment of $1,000 shows how adept she is in manipulating the futures market. (That translates to a 9,987% return.) Truly astounding. I have no doubt that if Hillary were elected, oil prices would go down and America could go back to the days of the incandescent light bulb. Experience counts.

Another crucial issue that cries out for an experienced leader is the current mortgage-meltdown issue which threatens to derail the economy. Again, Hillary's real life experience far outweighs that of all other contenders. Can you spell Whitewater? Facing a crumbling real-estate investment when she and Bill ran Arkansas back in 1978, Hillary showed her mettle. The model home in the failed development of Whitewater was owned by the Clintons. When the owners failed to pay the mortgage, Hillary booted them out without a second thought. A very conservative, market oriented solution. Hillary proved she can act without letting feelings and/or moral sentiments get in the way.

Hillary's experience also extended to drafting loan documents designed to fool federal regulators in another failed Arkansas real-estate, Ponzi scheme, Castle Grand. Hillary knows how easily the feds can be fooled. Thus, she is ideally positioned to identify real-estate fraud and clean up the current 'sub-prime' mess. Again, experience counts.

Although the war on terror has somehow become a non-issue in the presidential campaign, millions of Americans realise fanatical jihadists still have the potential to wreak havoc on America. Hillary's experience in ferreting out and neutralising threats to hubby Bill should stand her in good stead. If Hillary decides to take on fanatical jihadists, my bet is she has a better than 50/50 chance of rendering them moot. Her ability to identify and decimate opponents, if applied to murderous jihadists, would most likely be successful. (Of course, as president, she would have legitimate access to their FBI files, which will help allot.) America would then be safe once again.

Another looming crisis for the U.S. is the fact that baby-boomers have started to retire. The government is promising $45 trillion more than it can deliver on Social Security, Medicare and other benefit programs. Hillary's unique experience in this area could be invaluable. As has been amply documented, Hillary and Bill have had amazing success in wresting unlimited amounts of cash from Chinese connections. One need only recall The Lippo Group, the Riady's, John Huang, Johnny Chung, etc. Or more recently, the 'donations' she received from cooks and waitresses in New York's Chinatown. Oh, and don't forget Norman Hsu. If Hillary is president, Chinese cash could very well fix, or most likely delay, the coming social security crisis. Her experience in this area has the added bonus of leaving the next Republican president a financial morass. But, hey, to make an omelette, ya gotta break a few eggs. And Hillary makes great omelettes.

Hillary's experience will also serve her well in confronting the abysmal state of the airline industry. Cancelled and delayed flights have just impacted the travel plans of millions of Americans. Who wouldn't welcome someone with experience taking charge? Hillary, again, is ideally suited to tackle this mettlesome problem. Consider her experience in Travelgate. Granted, it included the persecution of an innocent man, but, hey, a jury quickly acquitted him. No harm, no foul. Hillary has showed she is capable of doing whatever it takes to make the airlines run on time.
Based on Hillary's experience, most problems Americans face will be resolved. The contentious issue of abortion on demand will be solved for good, most likely with the appointment of Bill to the Supreme Court. The poor and disenfranchised will regain their rightful place at the public trough. Victims will again have their voices heard. God will finally be totally banned from the public square. Old white men will lose their privileged status. Women will finally break through the 'glass ceiling.' Global warming will be stopped in its tracks with some strategically placed 'investments'. America will become a truly diverse nation. Multiculturalism will finally eradicate individualism. Capitalism will be replaced by government mandate and the rest of the world will like us again. Utopia will finally be achieved and we'll all live happily ever after.

Want more Hillary scandals? Perhaps Washington knows something you don't.

The day following the crucial Indiana and NC primaries that seemed to end Hillary's presidential aspirations, a strange thing happened. The media started releasing bits and pieces of Hillary's seldom reported, nefarious doings. Doings that have been in the public arena for years but never followed up by the media.

The Washington Times headline Once-Secret Memos Question Clinton's Honesty appeared Wednesday. The article outlined the decades old information that federal prosecutors had assembled hundreds of pages of evidence suggesting she concealed information and misled a federal grand jury. Information that has long been available but, curiously, never reported in depth until now.

On Friday, The Wall Street Journal ran an article entitled, The Clinton Divorce, in which they actually mentioned nine of the most well known Clinton scandals. This was followed on Saturday by a current (potential) Hillary scandal, U.S. Criminal Probe Eyes Clinton Donor.

Monday we see another headline from the Washington Times, Clinton's Records Vanished After Warning , about the billing records of Hillary's Rose Law Firm. The billing records that disappeared 14 years ago, and were found by Hillary two years later.

Now, to touch on some other things. Please let me, first point out that Rev. Wright was a spiritual advisor to Bill Clinton during the Oklahoma City bombings and was good enough for the Clinton family, then.
Also, why would you hold Ayers over Obama's head? I went to High School with people that are now convicts in the MT State Prison. Should I not be allowed to run for office because I know someone that did something bad? That sounds like an argument a middle-schooler would use to run for Student Body President. I believe the American people are above that!
I understand that you support Clinton... but it is likely that Obama will be the nominee and I think everyone knows that. Now let's unify as Democrats so that we do not have a repeat of the last 7 1/2 years! "

" Someone awhile back predicted in a letter to the editor, which the IR entitled "Scenarios" that Obama supporters would label anyone who voted AGAINST him as being a racist.

It happened in Pennsylvania after the primary elections there and it is already happening in Montana and we haven't even had our primary yet - just imagine what will happen after Montana's primary.

I will not vote for Obama for the simple reason that he is too idealistic [aka naive] and has very little experience -- he is afterall, a very junior senator.
