IR Web site to feature up-to-the-minute Primary coverage

By Independent Record - 06/01/08

All eyes will turn towards the Big Sky on Tuesday, when Montana follows South Dakota to be the final state to turn in primary results in the much-contested Democratic presidential race.

The results of that race and the many others on the ballot Tuesday will be the focal point of helenair.com as Election 2008 coverage takes over the front page of the Web site. Log on and check back often to view county-by-county Democratic presidential primary results, read reports from the county polling stations, and keep track of the play-by-play with Twitter updates.

To ensure that you don't miss a single update, make sure your computer has the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader and the latest Flash Player. Both programs are free, and will allow you to view and use the interactive county results map.

For Montanans, Tuesday is about much more than the Democratic presidential nomination: several important legislative offices - on both the state and national levels - are up for grabs, as is the position of governor. Lewis and Clark county residents will see a proposed levy for the Lewis and Clark Library on their ballot as well, and voters registered in Broadwater and Jefferson counties will be electing new county commissioners.

Information on all the races and candidates, including video profiles and coverage of former president Bill Clinton's visits to Helena, and Sen. Barack Obama's and Sen. Hillary Clinton's speeches at the Montana Democratic Party's Mansfield-Metcalf Dinner in Butte, is all available at the IR's Election 2008 homepage.

If you have not yet registered to vote, or have questions about Montana's primary election process, check out the Secretary of State's Voter Information Web site. A list of election administrators for every county is also available.
