Helena man injured in rock-climbing fall

A 46-year-old Helena man was injured Saturday night when he fell about 40 feet while rock climbing in Avalanche Gulch.

According to Broadwater County Sheriff Brenda Ludwig, the man, whose name has not been released, suffered head, neck and back injuries in the fall.

The incident was reported to authorities at 7:01 p.m. by one of the three other men who was climbing with the injured man.

The man was transported by ambulance to St. Peter’s Hospital.
