Tom Kilmer and his buddy Dave Whaley spent eight days and seven nights climbing glaciers and backpacking in Wyoming’s fabled Wind River Range.

During their trip, Kilmer snapped this photo of his friend on a glacier at 13,500 feet. They encountered eight sunny days and seven "Vincent Van Gogh nights." The trip wasn’t without its moments of misery. "As Lewis and Clark liked to say 'Musqueeters verrrry troublesome,' " Kilmer wrote.
