Obama in touch with Montana
By Colleen Howard, 756 N. Hannaford - 08/26/08
McCain hasn’t found Montana worth visiting, so how could he possibly know what the state of our economy is? What does McCain have to offer except another four years of Bush economics?
Barack Obama offers us a different view. He is giving us, the people of America, the chance to change the way things are done in Washington, D.C. He is giving us back the power to make a difference; the power to direct the way we want our country to run. Barack Obama definitely knows what the state of our economy is. He has visited here four times and plans are in the works for a fifth visit. He doesn’t just spend that time with big politicos. He has spent time listening to the people of Montana, finding out what our concerns and needs are. He does bring us hope: Hope for a change that matters, a change that will truly make a difference.

And how many times has the McCain campained in Helena or even Montana? That's right: Zero. And, that, freinds, is not very encouraging at all.
Obama has campaigned in other countries to prove his value in foreign policy and world relations. I guess we will never know how the McCain ranks on the issue, since so far he has forgotten the concerns of the world like another vacation home. Seems like so far the McCain's global strategy is to just "bomb, bomb, Iran" and everything else. Hello? The current tyrant already tried that; and it failed.
Clearly, Obama's five visits show a lot more concern for our state then any other previous presidential canidate. And clearly, the more proven and effective leader of this country will be Barack Obama. "

Now before you right wing thinkers start spewing hatred, fear, and smears, please at least take the time to get your story straight. Obama does have a flag on his plane. Obama is NOT a muslim! There are several places that you can find the truth, and they are not even liberal websites. Look it up! This is just another Republican't smear tactic, which is why I left the party in 2004. For all the other "Independent Thinkers," please do some research and don't read or listen to fear. I did, and guess what I found out? John McCain voted against Veteran's issues 15 out of 17 times. John McCain has a D- grade with the DAV, Obama has a B rating. John McCain does not support equal pay for women, nor has he voted for a minimum wage increase. The price of EVERYTHING goes up, so why not our pay? Very simple policies that he has voted against. John McCain hold the #1 spot of missed votes in the senate! Wake up America, and wake up Montana. We are smarter than fear and lies. "

And if you think Obama is "giving us back the power" you're out of touch with reality yourself. He's a socialist - no power there. Were you sick that day in school when a socialistic society was taught? "

Then again, he does offer to change the current climate from right to left, which a lot of his supporters want, but that isn't real change either.
Fact is the liberals have been in charge of Congress for the last two years and haven't done a single thing to make positive changes. Funny that they continually vote against oil exploration, but now with the rising price of gas, they are suddenly offering their own oil exploration plans. They are merely trying to placate the public to ensure they keep their seats in Congress. Nothing more, nothing less. "

McCain is all about big business, tax cuts and more houses for the rich (everyone making more than 5 Mill he says - so all of you out there making a measly 3 or 4 Mill are stuck with the rest of us), more Bush deficit management and telling the American people how to live their lives. "

I don't care how many houses John McCain owns or obama owns for that matter. I would like to see taxes lowered, oil drilling so the supply is increased to lower prices, I would like to see the United States stand up to the tyrany of terrorism not bow and scrape to international despots and tinhorn dictators.
I would like Montana Farmers and Ranchers have the ability to leave their land to their children and not have the children reqired to sell the land to pay the death tax.
Yes, obama has visited the state, so have a lot of other people. And he is like so many others that came before, rape the land and people to get what he wants and run back to his penthouse in Washington.
I don't care who a person votes for, but at least vote for someone who actually has a plan and the ability to make things happen.
All obama will do is make Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton look good by comparison.
Vote Alan Keys! "

Sen McCain DOES NOT own any of the house he lives in with his wife. Those houses are HERS from BEFORE they were married.
And before the usual dim/lib suspects show up to whine and snivel about him marrying into money, they better remember that John [I spent Christmas in Cambodia] Kerry married into money, not once, but TWICE. "

purple - Not that it matters that much if Cindy McCain bought those houses before they were married, but since they were married in 1980 - I'm going to go out on a limb here & say that you may have just made that up or are parroting that from someone who made that up.

Since the Republicans tried to make hay in 2004 about Kerry marrying into money, it's just chickens coming home to roost.
laverne - Well, I certainly don't think that Senator McCain is so cold-hearted that he wouldn't have a house for his own mother! Why didn't you add her to your list? (Ok, sounds like she has her own home.) So counting the places in Phoenix, Sedona, and the D.C. area and then 2 more, we're still either 2 or 3 homes short (depending on whether it's 7 or 8 total). Oh, some of those properties are investments! You know, it doesn't really bug me nearly as much that the McCains' own that many homes with some of them being investment properties as the fact that he couldn't answer the question properly. All it would have taken is something along the lines of "We have our places in Phoenix and the D.C. area and a place in Sedona. Cindy's got some investment properties - I can get back to you on the number of investment properties if you'd like." (He could have even thrown in the part about the aging aunt!) If he's going to bumble a question like that....
As for George Obama, you got hoodwinked by the Italian version of Vanity Fair. Here's a link to CNN where he's quoted as being angry about the article and refuting it.

And Barack Obama is not a socialist any more than John McCain is a fascist. Give it up.
independentwoman - Thanks for bringing up veterans. It's difficult to understand why McCain is having such trouble with vets because he is one. A little shameless cross-posting here - check out my post at:

On the Europe whining - Yep, Obama made 3 stops in Europe. And that's 2 less than he's made in Montana. And 5 more than McCain has made in Montana - he either thinks he's got Montana in the bag or he just doesn't care. And you're just jealous that Obama got a better reception in Europe than McCain did back in March & will do a better job of repairing our relationships with our allies. "
