State sports briefs: Bozeman motorcyclist dies in 200 mph crash
By The Associated Press - 09/05/08
Tooele County Sheriff’s investigators said Cliff Gullett of Bozeman was traveling about 200 mph when he crashed Wednesday afternoon. Investigators weren’t sure what caused Gullett to lose control of the motorcycle.
The American Motorcyclist Association said on its Web site that Gullett was competing in the 500cc Streamliner class at the Salt Flats, where drivers go for speed records every summer on the flat, open space just east of the Nevada state line.
In an interview with The Billings Gazette in May, Gullett said racing was addictive.
“I’ve never done drugs, but if drugs are anything like racing, there ought to be a Betty Ford Clinic for racing.”
Gullett said at the time that he was going to Bonneville to set as many land speed records in one setting as possible. MSU-Northern signs Lithuanian player
