Palin a slap in the face

By Bonnie Steel, 3610 Lilly Lane - 09/08/08

What a slap in the face to Hilary supporters! Does John McCain really think we disgruntled Hilary supporters will learn to love Sarah Palin? Sarah Palin is no Hilary Clinton. It makes me wonder if Judy Martz wasn’t available. Judy Martz had more experience when she was governor and similar credentials.

It really says what John McCain thinks of women. We are nice and pretty but not to be taken seriously. It makes me angry when commentators stated she was the Republican answer to Hilary supporters.

The women I know are worried about the economy, war, health care and education. They know that gays, guns and abortion are issues to divide people but are better left to religious institutions and the courts to decide.

As a disgruntled Hilary supporter my decision is made. I am voting for Obama and Biden.

" "JK03"

In exit polls during the democrat primaries, black voters were asked why they were voting for obama. Approx 90 percent stated they were voting for obama because he is "black". "

" People need to vote on the issues and someones character not what gender race religion or what their looks are sadly so many vote on their heart not on logic or what the candidates views are the media hype is no help in the fact that they get every one talking about the cadidates families lives nd any other gossip they can dig up rather than reporting on the facts "

" Sarah Palin is probably one of the best people that we could have in government. She faces the same everyday struggles like the rest of us. I don't doubt for one minute that her heart felt broken when she found out that her daughter was pregnant. What IS important is the way they are pulling together as a family and dealing with the situation. There would be a lot less problems in the world today if more families stuck together like hers does. Teenagers often disappoint us. Its part of their learning process. That doesn't mean that the parents are at fault. Instead of critisizing Sarah for what her daughter does, she should be applauded for what she has accomplished! "

" "Ms Steel"

Check this out, from a news story elsewhere on the net;

[Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committees Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.]

She is but one big name Hillary supporter who is defecting to McCain. Right after the democrat primaries were completed, roughly 20 percent of democrat women stated they will not vote for obama. "

" shorty, if you really are a Clinton supporter, why in the world would you shift your support from a moderate Democrat like Hillary Clinton to a far-right conservative like Sarah Palin? If you look at the actual policy positions of Obama and Clinton, theres hardly a dime's worth of difference between the two. And they are both miles from the four-more-years-of-Bush positions of McCain/Palin. (To the extent you can even get them to admit they have any positions on anything.)

I'm curious how you have arrived at the conclusion that Obama is the candidate of DNC "elitists"? It is Hillary who was the child of privilege growing up, who has been part of DC culture for 16 years, and who was the anointed candidate of party insiders. Obama is a self-made man who mounted an insurgent, populist campaign that threw Hillary and the DNC for a loop. If you want real change for the better and not just lip-service, Obama is the best choice. "

" I totally agree the comparison of hilary and palin was a great insult to palin and her supporters. I am a firm supporter and fan of sarah palin (even though i won`t be voting her direction due to her running mates track record) her politics history and home life are all great qualfications to her as a canidate.to compare the two is like comparing apples and oranges especially when you look at palin`s down to earth real world track record and hilary`s liberal empty agendas. hilary is out of the race so i guess i needn`t comment on her short comings "

" lwester....I agree with you....teenagers are going to make choices that have this turn out. My problem is that Sara Palin believes in Abstinance ONLY education. Which means that since Bristol attends a school that has no sex education, they teach abstinance only....and her mother/parents teach abstinance only so what do you think Bristol thought was going to happen if she had sex? Who knows maybe with popular media she knew what "could" happen, but its more likely she had no idea. This is an unfortunate situation as I don't believe any 17 year old in our society today is meant to have babies.....but it goes to show what Abstinance only education results in.....UNWANTED PREGNANCIES. Sure Bristol is going to keep her baby, come on.....does she have a choice...in fact she is now going to be married at 17. Realistically....what are the chances that is going to work out? Good luck to her tho....I sincerely hope she and her baby and her soon to be husband have a happy ending. Just remember....POLICIES PEOPLE....We need to look past the distractions and vote on policies...because refreshing personalities aren't going to get us anything for the next 4 years. "

" in response to elizabethm - just because Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter is pregnant does NOT necessarily mean that she condones pre marital sex. Everyone, even a govenor's daughter, has free will and can make decisions contrary to their families, or their upbringing. What's important is how the family is dealing with the situation, and I personally think being a supportive of their daugher and moving forward as a family shows they do have morals. "

" As a Hillary supportor and a disgruntled Democrat (with the DNC elitists), I am one excited to see Sarah Palin. She looks like someone who sees a problem and begins working a solution. Go Sarah! You are heads above Obama and Biden is no change agent - he is the agent of the DNC elitists. "

" How can you say that you would want your daughter to look up to Palin? Do you not know that she has a 17 year old daughter (Bristol) that is pregnant!!
I would not want my daughter looking up to someone who condones pre marital sex and thinks it is ok for her 17 year old daughter to be pregnant!!
Where are your morals people!! "

" Palin has a lot of issues it seems: inexperience (sorry parked next to Russia doesn't mean a thing), alleged corruption issue hanginig over her, some blatent spinning with the "bridge to nowhere" falsehoods...but women should remember that if they were for Hillary and believed in choice whatsoever...Palin wants to do away with that choice and every shred of it in every situation. Just to make sure that's clear for those for whom it matters. "

" Nope - Governor Palin's no Hillary Clinton. Governor Palin didn't get where she is by hanging onto the coattails of her, ahem, hubby.
If you find Governor Palin to be a slap in your face, just do what Hillary's husband once suggested - put some ice on it. "

" Palin is nothing more than an ill-advised sideshow, a diversion, so the Republicans don't ever have to talk about their policies. Classic bait and switch tactics. "

" Now that John McCain has chosen a qualified candidate the democrats are showing their frustration with their choice. Sarah Palin is the role model most of us would prefer for our daughters and sons. Hard work and perseverence does pay off and every time your child says "I want to grow up to be the president" you have someone to point to as an example. Not to take anything away from Hillary for her accomplishments through the normal democratic channels. Palin has a devoted, hard working husband, five children and the respect of 80% of the citizens of Alaska now many more in the other 49 states. "

" Of course she's no Hillary Clinton - she's a hundred times better. Unlike Clinton, Palin is the true image of a strong, confident and capable woman. Why would I want to vote for a woman who allowed herself to be treated like a doormat by her husband? What an example for American women! There's only one woman in the White House that I would want my daughter looking at as an example of what a woman can aspire to be - and it's not Hillary, (or Michelle Obama). This is one intelligent woman who will be voting for McCain and Palin in November! "

" Why is it that people that are voting for Obama and Biden seem threatened by Palin? Is it her go-getter attitude that has people thinking,"Wow, maybe she WILL do what's right?" I think that it shows very closed-mindedness (also a slap in the face for Palin) on your part and other so-called 'Hilary Supporters' to the fact that your mind is already made up and you're not going to give her a chance to speak before you bad-mouth her. "

" If you think that's bad, you ought to find out what McCain called his own wife during his 1992 re-election campaign. He called her a couple of words, one I can print is "trollop". The incident is in a book, I forget the name of it, and there were his own staffers and reporters present when he did it. "

" As someone that voted for Clinton in the primary, I say;

Just say NO to B.O. B.O. stinks.

Throughout his primary he was condescending towards Hillary and marginalized every popular vote and pledged delegate that she earned. Now he needs her help, so she comes a useful idiot to serve his ego-centric needs. Once that purpose is filled, she will be relegated back to her position of insignificancy in the OBAMA playbook. "

" Again the self centered left speaks, "It is all about me".

John McCain as a liberal Republican has not had a great rapport with the conservative base of the Party and with Conservative Independents among the Constitution, Libertarian and other affiliations.

Governor Palen gives the rest of the country a choice. Instead of 2 radical liberals, and a moderate liberal, we now have a conservative to vote for.

Governor Palen is an exceptional choice to lead conservatives and will give a voice to a huge segment of the population that loves their children, do not feel religion is a dirty word, and want to protect the rights guarenteed in the Constitution.

For Conservatives, we finally have a horse to bet on in this race. If Hillary supporters want to vote obama, that is their problem. They were not voting for the Republican ticket anyway.

I am voting for Governor Palen, and her running mate. "

What exactly are Hillary credentials for experience, being the first lady with a husband who chases "other" women around the hallowed halls of the White House with his trousers down around his ankles? "
