Dress criticism is class envy
By Sharon Hazen, 611 1st St. - 09/21/2008
Why shouldn’t anyone who works hard to make something of themselves be able to to buy, or wear, whatever they can afford. So what if Cindy McCain’s outfit costs $313,000.
Talk about having choices comparable to those of Marie Antoinette! How about Jacqueline Kennedy? The media used to critique her wardrobe to a tee, but no one bashed her on how much she would spend on her outfits. That’s because she was a Democrat and Cindy McCain is a Republican.
Instead of bashing Cindy McCain for what she spends on clothes, why not praise her for all the good that she’s done with her philanthropic kindness.
No, you want to break it down to show how many meals her one outfit could provide for the many in this country who are hungry.
Why not send a message to these people that if they just better themselves by getting a good education, a good job, and plan for their future, maybe they can provide for themselves, and not be so dependent on charity from others and the government.

Imagine how much all of the gowns worn by all of these liberal women cost as well as the bling which goes with it.
One person is actually planning to wear six different outfits for this one night event.
So where is the criticism by the author of this letter? "

Back before the creation of welfare, churchs and church organizations did a pretty good job of tending to the less fortunate and with little or no overhead. Along comes the democrat created welfare and its inherent high overhead costs, costing the taxpayers far more than what they gave in charitible contributions. Before the advent of welfare, chartible donations were far higher than they are today. "

Perhaps because she put the non-profit she worked for due to her stealing drugs for her personal use out of business.
Perhaps because of guilt she felt when the Dr that prescribed the drugs lost his license.
Could it be that time when she dated a married man, then married him?
Who really knows - but I find it sad for her and agree we should wish her well and hope she gets some help. "

So if those people who have no resources for a good education and/or a good job are lazy and have their hands out for charity are beneath you?
Lets bail out the greedy in Wall Street. They had a good education and good jobs, yet they have their hands outstretched for good old Gov. welfare. Double standard?
I do however, feel sorry for Cindy. She looks to me like she is a mentally beaten down woman. I have no facts on this..just my observation. "

The attitude of"I got mine, you get yours" also does not follow christian beliefs. We're to help those in need. If we continue present policies, there will be no $ for those downtrodden to get an education nor will jobs be available as they have been shipped overseas to increase profits for the cindy mccains .
Obama actually did come from an underpriviledged household and became educated to obtain the position he is in today. It was not handed to him but the spin doctors of the right try to make him an elitist. What a joke. "

Very well said. Cindy McCain's clothing should not matter in this election, her job as "First Lady" is to be a goodwill ambassador for the president. She has no personal agenda.
I'm sure the democrats will pounce on your letter, so be it. "

Anyone that knows anything about Cindy McCain (it is all public record) knows that she has spent most of her adult life doing charitable works for the extremely poor, providing free surgical operations for children with severe facial deformities, and feeding the poor. Her youngest daughter was an orphan from Bangladesh, India. Cindy serves on the boards of several charitable organizations. "

I have more liberal perspectives, and would probably be classified as such, but as far as I'm concerned, Cindy McCain can buy whatever she wants for however much she wants.
And so what if she inherited her money? On the east coast, that's known (or at least used to be) as Old Money, and was actually considered a lot more respectable than New Money.
In all honesty, why is it anyone else's business what she does with her money? Or if her dress represents supposed "insecurity?" One could just as easily throw out that your lack of money could represent the failures of your entire family.
"Jealousy is simply and clearly the fear that you do not have value. Jealousy scans for evidence to prove the point - that others will be preferred and rewarded more than you. There is only one alternative - self-value. If you cannot love yourself, you will not believe that you are loved. You will always think it's a mistake or luck. Take your eyes off others and turn the scanner within. Find the seeds of your jealousy, clear the old voices and experiences. Put all the energy into building your personal and emotional security. Then you will be the one others envy, and you can remember the pain and reach out to them." ~Jennifer James
Who are you people to pass judgments on her? When your life is perfect, let me know...otherwise, that's probably where you should put your focus. "
