Skiler Elizabeth Hampson

Skiler Elizabeth Hampson, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter and friend, passed away Nov. 19, 2008, as a result of a car accident in September.

She was born Dec. 16, 1983, in Poplar to Mike and Vicki Hampson and moved to Helena with her family at the age of 5. She was the oldest of four children. She attended Jim Darcy Elementary School, C.R. Anderson Middle School, Capital High and Carroll College, where she was a senior and due to graduate in May 2009.

Skiler developed a love of helping others early on. She would frequently volunteer at the VVA fireworks stand during the summers and was always more than willing to lend an ear to a friend in need. She also enjoyed reading and watching movies from her vast collection.

After her accident in September, she was addicted to watching the Food Network channel, and even went so far as to order the magazine. Skiler would try to get her family to make these elaborate concoctions for her, although they had no idea where to begin!

To Skiler, her family was the world. She loved them all so much, and would bend over backwards to help in any way possible. She loved being an aunt, and was so excited when her nephew Cooper was born in February. She was such a wonderful person, and we feel so blessed to have had her in our lives, even if it doesn't seem like it was enough time.

Skiler is survived by her parents, Mike and Vicki; her brothers, Bobby (Ivy) and Aaron; her sister, Alexis (James); and her nephew, Cooper. She is also survived by her grandparents, Bob and Shirley (Punky) Hampson of Livingston and Peggy and Larry Williams of Hinkley, N.Y.; cousins, Clay, Shonna and Dan (Pam) Williams of Phoenix, John and Kim Hampson of Livingston and Bob, Marlene and Hannah Estes of Menasha, Wis. Also by her cousin, Curtis (Jennifer) Jarnish and his children; her uncle, Gerald Grunst of Poplar Mich.; her great-aunt, Dodi Goedert-Robe of Las Vegas; and great-aunt and uncle, Herman and Elaine Thacker of Canyon Country, Calif.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. at Hagler-Anderson Chapel today. A celebration of Skiler's life will be held at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Her interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.

" As I close my eyes and think of Skiler I see an incredibly kind and tender human being, who would give everything she had to help her family or friends.
The Hampsons must feel a huge empty spot without Ms. Ski in their midst, but the Angels on High must be rejoicing with her in their midst right now.
Because Skiler and I were both the eldest of 4 children we had an understanding. I love Ms. Skiler and all the Hampson clan. You are my family by choice, not blood.
You are all in my prayers. May you all have peace in your hearts. Apparently Skiler was needed to help her Heavenly Father now.
Love to all of you,
Deb "

" Mike, Vicki, and family,

I just want you all to know how very sorry I was to hear of Skiler's passing. The hurt in my own heart I know is not as painful as it must be for all of you! Just know that my thoughts and prayers are with you today and always in this time of loss!

You were Blessed indeed as were all those who's lives she touched! It is with great sorrow that I say:
"So-long until we meet again, dear Skiler! May you find peace and rest. May the Lord wrap His loving arms about those of us left behind that we might find that same peace and rest from the pain we feel at this time!"

God's Blessings to all who mourn the loss of this dear woman!

Love,
Kate "

" Skiler, you were one of the first friends I made when I moved to Helena in April 1992. I will always remember our fun memories together as children: watching Beauty and the Beast, singing and dancing to the songs of Sister Act, running out on the football field of Jim Darcys playground. Most of my first and happiest memories in Helena were with you.
Im glad we continued our friendship throughout middle and high school. Your sense of humor and goofy personality always kept a smile on my face.
Thank you for being my friend and giving me such wonderful memories. We had a lot of great times together. Im sad that you were taken so young but I want you to know that in my heart, you will always be remembered as the Skiler I first met when I moved to Helena: the little girl with the smiling eyes and contagious laugh who befriended the new girl in town.
I miss you, my friend. "

" Skiler was such a beautiful person. She had the best laugh, big and loud, and a funny, sarcastic sense of humor. She was a good friend, and one of the best parts of my childhood. I always liked spending the night at her house when we were growing up- with her big, loud, fun family. I'm going to miss her teasing me about how she would always be older and wiser than me. And I am thankful for having her in my life, and having the great memories of all our good times together. "
