The Bobcats, 1-2 on the season, beat Oregon State 60-59 last year in Corvallis, Ore., which ended up being the second of 21-straight losses the Beavers took into the offseason.
Oregon State opened this season 0-3, including a 53-52 loss to Yale Monday night.
Oregon State has not won since beating Northern Colorado, Dec. 19, 2007, a streak of 24 straight regular-season games.
The Bobcats return home for a game with the University of Great Falls Monday.
Big Sky Conference play begins for the ’Cats Dec. 6 at Eastern Washington. Montana State’s Bobby Howard leads the team in scoring at 17.7 points per game, while Divaldo Mbunga is averaging 12.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
Through three games, Montana State is shooting 39.8 percent from the floor, while opponents are shooting 44.5-percent from the field.
In the loss to Yale, OSU junior Josh Tarver scored 21 points, one shy of his career best.
The Beavers are coached by Craig Robinson, who guided Brown to a school-record 19 wins last year before moving to the Pac-10 school. Robinson is the older brother of President-elect Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle.
The Bobcats were picked to finish eighth in the Big Sky coaches poll and seventh in the conference media poll.
