Kim walked into God’s loving arms Monday morning, Nov. 24, 2008. Her husband, Craig Potvin, was at her side when she died.

She began this valiant journey on a mercy helicopter flight from Helena, on Oct. 8, to Benefis Hospital in Great Falls after suffering a severe brain hemorrhage. She fought 46 days before the angels came and took her.

Kim was the first born of three daughters, being born on Sept. 23, 1958, to Jean Yaeger Eickmeyer (Helena) and James L. Eickmeyer (Helena Valley), who survive her.

She attended Ray Bjork and Jefferson grade schools, graduating from Helena High with honors in 1976. At the young age of 18, Kim married Frank Capps Jr. in Helena. She worked as a manager at a local McDonalds.

Kim was ecstatic after her firstborn son, Shaun, arrived in 1979, followed by her daughter, Monica, and eventually her son, Brandon. Divorced in 1983 and a single mother of three young children for 25 years, Kim always worked a full-time job. She began her career at the Montana Department of Labor, where she was a collections technician at unemployment insurance for 26 years up until the time of her death.

Though a stroke and heart surgery slowed her down 10 years ago, she rallied with a heart of gold.

She was a very giving person, helping organize benefits and fundraisers for co-workers, military personnel in Iraq, and her favorite: being a shopper for the annual Secret Santa family.

Kim met her soul mate and the love of her life, Craig T. Potvin. They were married in Helena on May 10, 2003. These two peas in a pod were able to travel the western United States, their favorite place being Las Vegas.

The highlight was Kim being chosen as the Montana delegate to the National Heart Association Convention in Washington, D.C., in April 2008.

Kim loved to watch the dolphins gracefully splash through the water and eventually became an avid Miami Dolphins’ fan. Kim’s passion was being around her family, cheering on her kids, grandchildren and nieces and nephews, participating in football, rodeo, softball, basketball, cross country, volleyball and soccer. She also loved the annual mother/daughter weekends. One special weekend was the Chargers game in Seattle and another the Garth Brooks concert in Billings.

Kim was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Doris Yaeger and Lewis and Agnes Kramp.

Survivors include her husband, Craig T. Potvin of Clancy; sons, Shaun and Brandon Capps of Helena; daughter, Monica (Danny) Capps of Kalispell; stepdaughter, Amy (Don) Killoy of Anaconda; grandchildren, Lindsay, Tori, Gunnar, Jessa and granddaughter-to-be; step-grandchildren, Damien and Tristan; sisters, Lori Cole of Helena and Terry (Mike) Clark of Belgrade; sister-in-law, Irene (George) Tetrault of Helena; brother-in-law, Jim (Linda) Potvin of Anaconda; surrogate parents, Ira (Dot) Keeler also of Helena. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, Beau, Josh and Sara Clark; Chad, Carmon and Tyler Cole; Chris Tetrault; Richie Tracey and J.J. Potvin. Special additions of her family include her cats, Crystal and Smokey.

Kim’s family will be inviting friends and co-workers to a celebration of her life on Friday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. at the Gathering Place, 302 East Riggs, East Helena. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Montana Chapter, 2812 lst Ave. North, Billings, MT 59101.
