Driver safety classes set

By Independent Record - 01/08/09

AARP’s Driver Safety Program will be offering a monthly four-hour class in Helena during January and February.

The class includes updates on the rules of the road and vehicle safety features; discussion of normal age-related physical changes; statistics on traffic crashes involving older drivers; and driving strategies to reduce the chance of having a crash by adapting to the effects of aging.

The courses are taught by AARP-trained volunteers, and there is no final test to pass. The course fee is $14, and a $2 discount is offered with an AARP membership card.

Auto insurance companies in Montana provide a multi-year discount to graduates.
