Elliot Lowe has joined the Independent Record as an advertising sales consultant managing business on the west side of Helena. He holds a bachelor's degree from San Jose State University and brings more than a decade of experience in outside sales. He can be reached at 447-4025.

Kayla Montgomery of Jensen Jewelers completed the 11-week Certified Professional Jeweler program.

Sandi Marisdotter, executive director of Family Outreach, recently passed the Board Certified Behavior Analyst exam to earn certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. She has been with Family Outreach since 1977 and became director in 1988.

Anderson ZurMuehlen recently announced several staff promotions.

Robert Culpon, director of information systems, has been promoted to shareholder. He has been with the firm since 2001.

Georgia Cummings has been promoted to senior manager of Upstream Academy. She has been with the firm since 2004.

Tiffany Hanson has been promoted to senior manager in the Tax Department. She has been with the firm since 1996.

Charity Rowsey has been promoted to senior manager in the Valuation and Litigation Department. She has been with the firm since 1999.

Suzanne Severin has been promoted to senior manager in the Tax Department. She was with the firm from 1983 to 1990, and again from 2000 to the present.

Angela Murdo has been promoted to manager in the Audit Department. She has been with the firm since 2001.

Krystal Stewart has been promoted to supervisor in the Tax Department. She has been with the firm since 2004.

Kim Elliott has been promoted to administrative manager in the Administrative Department. She has been with the firm since 2001.

Anderson ZurMuehlen recently announced two additions to the firm's staff.

Jill Goldberg, a former intern, joins the Assurance and Business Advisory Department as a staff consultant. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's of accountancy, both from the University of Montana.

Carrie Ritter joins the firm as marketing coordinator for the Helena and Butte offices. She was formerly a recruiter at UM-Helena and holds a bachelor's degree in communications and public relations from Carroll College.

Recognition

Nicole Christensen, assistant director at Kelly's Independent Daycare Service, has been named to the new Montana Early Care and Education Practitioner Registry by the Montana Early Childhood Project at Montana State University in Bozeman. She has been employed at KIDS continuously since 2004.

Tammy Kay Ahearn, preschool teacher at Kelly's Independent Daycare Service, has been named to the new Montana Early Care and Education Practitioner Registry by the Montana Early Childhood Project at Montana State University in Bozeman. She has been with KIDS since 2005.

Changes

Karen Rowan has opened a new foot care clinic, Accent on Skin, on the first floor of the Waterford on Saddle Drive. An LPN for 32 years, Rowan has experience in vascular surgery, family practice, internal medicine, geriatrics and dermatology. Rowan has trained locally as well as through the Washington State Podiatry Association. Her hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. She can be reached at 459-6959.

Montana State Fund will host a free safety workshop entitled "Taking the Mystery Out of Workers' Compensation Process and Procedures" on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Red Lion Colonial Hotel. Topics will include hiring practices as they relate to workers' compensation laws, as well as how to detect work comp fraud. The Montana Business Assistance Connection in association with the Small Business Development Center, Helena Area Chamber of Commerce and Small Business Administration will present a free workshop entitled "Survival During Tough Economic Conditions," Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the conference room at the Chamber of Commerce of Helena. The two-hour course will cover four topics: business management tips and best practices during economic downturns; tips to preserve cash; early warning signs of trouble; and recession-proofing your business. The workshop will be led by Dan Anderson, director of the Small Business Development Center. The workshop is free and open to the public.
