Katherine Berry, Amy Crunk and Cindy Hudson, genetic counselors at Shodair Children’s Hospital, attended the National Society of Genetic Counselors Annual Education Conference in Atlanta, Nov. 13-15. The conference provided up-to-date information on hereditary cancer syndromes, congenital heart disease and new technologies such as genomewide association studies and microarray.

Kim Schleicher, director of programs at the Feathered Pipe Foundation, has been invited to participate in a yoga teacher training in Cuba in January. The program is sponsored by Global Exchange, a non-profit organization advancing the rights of workers and the health of the planet. Schleicher teaches yoga at the Dancing Lotus Center.

Casey Bruno has joined the Helena office of Junkermier, Clark, Campanella, Stevens. She brings 28 years of experience with bookkeeping and payroll to the local office of the accounting firm.

Recognition

Barry McNamara, Tammy Christiansen and Julie Moore, KMTX AM/FM account executives, were recognized for outstanding sales achievement at the annual Montana Broadcasters Association Sales Clinic/Awards Luncheon in Missoula last month. It was McNamara’s ninth award and the first for Moore and Christiansen.

Rocky Mountain Development Council’s Agency on Aging Case Management Team recently received the Francis T. Ishida Award for Customer Service from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Regional Office in Denver. The team serves Lewis and Clark, Jefferson, Broadwater, Park, Gallatin and Meagher counties. Team members Linda Simmons, Karen George and Sharon Miller ensure that Medicaid-elligible people at risk for premature institutionalization receive the services they need to remain at home.

Pat Franks of Pat Franks Real Estate has been awarded the Certified Negotiation Expert designation, completing a course approved by the Board of Realty Regulation.

Changes

Quinn Erwin recently bought the dental practice of his brother, Jaden Erwin, at 64 Medical Park Dr. Quinn Erwin graduated from Capital High and Carroll College, and from the Creighton University School of Dentistry in 2008. He completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry through Idaho State University in Boise. Erwin offers comprehensive family dentistry and has experience in implant and cosmetic dentistry. Betty Gutman will be joining Cornerstone Counseling, 516 Fuller Ave., as of Dec. 1. She is a licensed clinical social worker with 25 years of experience, offering therapy to couples, families and individuals. She can be reached for appointments at 449-6361.

Anderson ZurMuehlen & Co., CPA’s and Business Consultants will present a QuickBooks Payroll class on Wednesday, Dec. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Business Resource Center at Career Training Institute. Topics will include setting up and processing payroll, accurately setting up 401(k) and cafeteria plans plus vital year-end reports and more. The cost for the workshop is $75. Class size is limited. Good Works

Cellular One recently made donations totaling $4,600 to 16 Montana schools, including Capital High and Lincoln Elementary. The company’s School Rebate Program allows customers to donate 3 percent of their monthly service fee to the school of their choice.
