Helena native and former Capital High School student Scott Duthie worked as a commercial designer on projects for Boeing, Microsoft, UPS and Nintendo while living in Seattle.
There, he met stuntman Bob Miles, who played a creature in the 1962 thriller, "The Slime People," and stunted for the TV series, "Wild Wild West."
Duthie got his first movie break driving stunt cars in "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle." He jumped from film to film including "Sleepless in Seattle" and Leonard Nimoy's 1994 comedy, "Holy Matrimony."
"I met Leonard Nimoy and he hired me as the stunt coordinator on that show," Duthie said in 2003. "While I was on that show, I got accepted into the American Film Institute in Hollywood for production design."
After a run at commercials, Duthie worked as a stunt double for Gary Busey in the action-adventure movie "Surviving the Game." He followed that by giving three seasons to the TV hit, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
Duthie's role in "Buffy" earned him a spot in the CBS series, "The Magnificent Seven," where he played various villains and assisted with visual production. While studio executives would eventually cancel the show before it could air, Duthie did meet Christopher Cain, director of "Young Guns" and "Pure Country," and now, "September Dawn."
