The St. Peter's Hospital Foundation annual Gala fund-raiser raised a record $111,000, the hospital said this week.
The proceeds will help fund the acquisition of digital mammography technology at St. Peter's.
With a theme of "Black and White," Gala Chair Pam Schindler and her volunteer committee sought a return to the more formal elegance of past events and succeeded in stunning style.
The hospital's previous record was $96,000 in 2005.
The drive to raise funds for digital mammography was kicked off earlier in the year by community member Joyce Brown. Her willingness to share such a personal story was instrumental in the early fund-raising success and laid the groundwork for the hospital's mammography services, the hospital said.
