Fitness camp for kids set for June 22-26
"Kids on the Go!" St. Peter's Hospital's Health and Fitness Camp for kids ages 11-15, is Monday - Friday, June 22-26, from 8:30 a.m. n 4 p.m. each day.
The camp offers fitness assessments through St. Peter's Wellness Department; sports safety and preventing injury with St. Peter's physical therapists; infections common to teens (meningitis, colds/flu, viral infections, fungal infections, etc.), with family physician Dr. Cheryl Cavalli.; eating disorders, body image and dieting and nutrition basics with dietitian Jennifer Colegrove; and sexual health with registered nurse Karrie Fairbrother.
Youth Connections will present a section on drug, alcohol and tobacco use prevention. The program also includes everyday workouts in circuit training, yoga/pilates, body resistance and flexibility.
Cost is 85$ per child. Class size is limited to 15 participants. Register by June 12 at www.stpetes.org, or by calling 444-2130.
Flower dissection, bridge building
on tap at museum
ExplorationWorks children's museum will offer a pair of science-related programs in the coming weeks.
On Saturday, June 13, 3 p.m., Sandy Olsen will give an inside look at the parts of a flower with her flower dissection presentation.
On Saturday, June 20, 3 p.m., engineers from Helena engineering and construction firm CDM will hold the Build a Bridge Challenge at 3 p.m.
Engineers will be on hand to help construct a bridge out of toothpicks and gumdrops.

Helena homelessness subject of local forum
There will be a community forum on homelessness Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Peter's Hospital Education Center.
The forum will give participants an opportunity to articulate what homelessness looks like in Helena and begin to craft solutions that address this local concern. The forum is sponsored by the Helena Action Coalition on Homelessness, Lewis and Clark County, City of Helena, Rocky Mountain Development Council, United Way of Lewis and Clark County, Good Samaritan Ministries and The Montana Council on Homelessness.
There will be presentations by Sue Watlov Phillips, executive director of the Elim Transitional Housing in Minneapolis, brings information about strategies being used in rural and urban areas across the nation to prevent and address homelessness. Watlov Phillps is also past president of the National Coalition on Homelessness.

Caesarean support group meets Thursday
The Helena chapter of the International Caesarean Action Network will have its monthly meeting Thursday, 7:30-9 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 800 N. Hoback.
ICAn is a support group for women who have had a Caesarean section, want to avoid a Caesarean section or may be pursuing a vaginal birth after Caesarean section.
