UPCOMING EVENTS

On Dec. 2, the Helena Outdoor Club will host a free presentation at 7 p.m. at the Lewis and Clark Library. The Coalition to Protect the Rocky Mountain Front and the Montana Wilderness Association will present a program of photos and descriptions of trails and routes on the Rocky Mountain Front.

On Dec. 2 at 7 p.m., the Montana FWP Commission will discuss hunting seasons for 2010. Come listen to changes that are being proposed for the Helena area, presented by Wildlife Biologist Jenny Sika. In addition, Montana Hunter Education Supervisor Thomas Baumeister will describe the predictions about hunter retention and recruitment and what that will mean for hunting in the future. On Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m., the Prickly Peak Sportsmen's Association will hold its regular meating the VFW Club in East Helena. Call 495-2444

On Dec. 12, ski the groomed trails at Mount Haggin or snowshoe in the area. This is usually one of the earliest areas to get good snow! Call 495-8787 or 449-7971.

On Dec. 19, ski the Homestake Ski Lodge trails out of Butte, a superb new cross country ski area. Call 495-8787 or 449-7971.

On Dec. 26, get out in the fresh air with your snowshoes on the Continental Divide Trail at the top of MacDonald Pass. Call 495-9206 for meeting place and time.
