A rapidly moving winter storm has sent temperatures falling and left Helenans to deal with icy streets and several inches of new snow.
The winter weather has kept police and first-responders busy.
Multiple accidents have been reported around the city, including a jack-knifed semi, a roll-over accident and a woman who sustained injuries after slipping on the ice earlier in the day.
Also, a woman went into labor in a pickup truck on MacDonald Pass at around 6:45 a.m. She opted to let emergency officials come to her aid instead of continuing to the hospital on icy streets.
The National Weather Service posted a snow and blowing snow advisory for Lewis and Clark County late Sunday night.
The advisory expired around 5 a.m. this morning. The fast moving storm had already moved to Eastern Montana by sunrise, and skies are expected to clear later in the day.
Forecasters are calling for continued light snow throughout the morning. Unofficial snow totals in Downtown Helena, elevation 4,100 feet, are just under four inches, with lesser amounts reported at the airport.
Bundle up tonight, as lows are expected to fall to five degrees before warming Tuesday back into the mid-20s.
