Deputies arrested two men and one woman from Helena early Monday morning for allegedly unlawfully entering an East Helena home with the intent to burglarize the residence and hitting a man with a 2-by-4 piece of lumber and a golf club.
According to documents filed in Justice Court, Ryan Clinton Shuler, 23, and Jeremy Lee Watson, 26, face felony charges of burglary and assault with a weapon. Watson's wife, Melanie Nichole Watson, 28, was arrested on a felony charge of burglary.
The documents allege the trio entered a home on Fiesta Court late Sunday night without permission, stating that the victim owed them money. The two men then grabbed an X-Box 360 and a laptop computer.
When the victim confronted the men, they allegedly attacked him by hitting him with a golf club in the jaw and a 2-by-4 in the torso. Court documents say the victim then wrestled a canister of bear-repellant pepper spray from Jeremy Watson and discharged it while being assaulted.
The three defendants then got into their vehicle and fled the scene, doused in pepper spray. The documents note the trio then stopped at a gas station to clean up, where Jeremy Watson called 911 to request medical assistance. He was then transported to St. Peter's Hospital, where he was ultimately arrested.
Jeremy Watson and Shuler are being held in the Lewis and Clark County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond and Melanie Watson is incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bond.
