A Helena man who was flown to a Billings hospital after a bar fight on June 19 has died.

Travis Tigh Ehret, 32, died of complications of his injuries at 10:59 a.m. Thursday at St. Vincent's Hospital, according to Lewis and Clark County Coroner Mickey Nelson.

Ehret incurred injuries in a fight at the Corner Bar on Euclid Avenue on the western edge of Helena.

The other man involved in the fight, Jesse Surburgg, 30, was arrested on a probation violation the day following the altercation, Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton said. No further charges have been filed.

According to the original sheriff's report, Ehret arrived at the bar Friday night and found his girlfriend playing pool with another man. Ehret became angry and challenged the man to a fight.

When the man tried to walk away from the situation, Ehret followed him to the bar and continued challenging him. When the bartender told Ehret to leave, Ehret began challenging the bartender and others at the bar to fight.

Ehret, Surbrugg and the second suspect eventually went out to the parking lot to fight.

A short while later, the two suspects came back inside the bar thinking the fight was over. But Ehret later returned wanting to fight again.

The three returned to the parking lot for a second fight, after which the two suspects left the scene.

Witnesses called 911 at about 10:30 p.m. to report that Ehret was unresponsive.

After sheriff's deputies, ambulance and Helena Fire Department responded to the scene, CPR was performed on Ehret, and he was revived.
