MISSOULA (AP) - A Washington state woman died Monday after being thrown from a motorcycle on U.S. 12 near Lolo, the Montana Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened at 10 a.m. when the 55-year-old male driver of the motorcycle was pulling to the side of the road and lost control, the patrol said.
The 61-year-old woman was thrown from the motorcycle. She died at a local hospital. The man was treated and released.
Their names are being withheld until family members can be notified. Both are from Kennewick, Wash., and both were wearing helmets, the patrol said.
The death raises the state highway fatality toll to 151, compared with 183 on Sept. 6, 2003.
