Police are investigating the Friday murder of a 26-year-old Helena woman in her home on the 900 block of Idlewilde.
According to Helena Police Chief Troy McGee, officers responded to the address at about 5:30 p.m. after receiving a 911 call from Amy Marie Rolfe's father, who said he had just found his daughter -- a mother of three boys -- dead.
"At this point, we are investigating it as a homicide," McGee said Saturday morning.
McGee declined to provide any additional details about the case, explaining that he didn't want to jeopardize his detectives' ongoing investigation.
Lewis and Clark County Coroner Mickey Nelson took Rolfe's body to Missoula for an autopsy Saturday afternoon.
The results of that autopsy revealed severe, multiple blunt-force tramas, he said late Saturday night.
At the Lewis and Clark Library -- where Rolfe had worked for several years in the circulation department -- the reaction to the news of Rolfe's death was one of disbelief and sorrow.
Library employee Diana Zimmerman said she found out about Rolfe's murder when she arrived for work on Saturday. Apparently Rolfe's supervisor attempted to reach all of the library workers and inform them of the tragedy prior to their arriving at work, but Zimmerman missed the call.
"It's hard to believe," said Zimmerman, who explained that the staff at the library is close-knit.
She added that Rolfe was among the younger employees there, so her older counterparts were always very protective of her.
Zimmerman said Rolfe, like most of the people who work at the library, had a passion for books -- one that she tried to share with her children.
She recalled one day a couple of weeks ago in which Rolfe brought her eldest son to the library with her while she worked her shift.
The boy spent the time reading books and participating in the library's book bingo program.
Zimmerman said the boy was extremely quiet and polite, even when he got a bingo and went to the desk to collect his prize.
"She's just so pretty," Zimmerman said of Rolfe. "And she was very involved as a mother."
A funeral date has not yet been set.
