A 24-year-old Helena man has received a three-year deferred sentence for his role in the recent shooting death of a woman.
In addition, a Helena District Court Judge ordered Danny Krummel to spend 30 days in jail and obtain a chemical dependency evaluation following Krummel's guilty plea last Wednesday to the charge of tampering with physical evidence.
According to County Attorney Leo Gallagher, the plea came as part of an agreement with his office.
Krummel was arrested with Donna Stryker last month following the accidental shooting of 18-year-old Shandi Rae Griffin.
Stryker, 32, is charged with negligent homicide in connection with Griffin's death, along with tampering with physical evidence. She is scheduled to make her next court appearance on Wednesday.
According to prosecutors, Stryker accidentally shot Griffin with an SKS assault rifle as she "fiddled" with the lock on the weapon.
Stryker is alleged to have tossed the rifle into a nearby trash bin following the shooting, then changed her clothing prior to the arrival of police officers at the scene of the incident.
Krummel admitted to removing the 30-day sticker from the back window of the vehicle in which the shooting victim was sitting before officers responded to the scene. He had recently purchased the car and hoped that, without the sticker, it couldn't be immediately linked to him.
Tampering with physical evidence carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison and/or a $50,000 fine.
