The Broadwater High School Bulldogs and the Three Forks Wolves meet Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. on the Broadwater High volleyball court for the Dig Pink Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention event.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. During this time, the Side-Out Foundation conducts nationwide high school and college volleyball matches to promote breast cancer awareness and raise funds for breast cancer research.
Wednesday, during the regularly scheduled conference match between the Bulldogs and Wolves at the BHS gymnasium, the rivals will join in a common cause -- to fight breast cancer.
Players will be sporting their own pink for the cause, and all fans are asked to wear pink as well.
This event has its own fundraising goal and Web site for tracking how much the event raises.
Contributions can be made online or at Wednesday's match. Donations are 100 percent tax deductible.
Tickets will be available Wednesday for a "Dig Pink Basket" raffle, sponsored by the Townsend Middle School Student Council. Tickets are $1 each.
Breast cancer awareness information will also be provided at the event.
Over 600 teams are participating in Dig Pink events in October, and the Side-Out Foundation hopes to raise $100,000 this year.
