Two Republican primary races were too close to call at press time Tuesday.
According to unofficial results released by Lewis and Clark County officials after 11 p.m., House District 84 incumbent John Ward led challenger Mike Miller of Helmville by a tally of 265 votes to 210. The district includes the western and northern portions of the Helena Valley and the southern half of Powell County.
The winner of the primary faces a Democratic challenger and a Libertarian challenger in the Nov. 4 election.
In the House District 17 Republican primary, Augusta resident Russ Bean led Choteau resident Jim Anderson by a count of 171 votes to 165.
Lewis and Clark County officials were unsure if all the votes in those districts had been counted. Check helenair.com today for continuing coverage.
