Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint.

According to Helena Police Chief Troy McGee, a woman reported that she was driving on N. Montana Avenue at about 9 p.m. Friday night when she thought she heard something dragging under her vehicle. When she stopped her car to check, a man stuck his head and body into her opened passenger-side window and brandished a handgun, which was stuck in the waist band of his pants.

The man demanded the woman give him the money from her purse, which amounted to about $100, McGee said.

The suspect was described as a white male about 35 years old with a bad complexion and shoulder-length brown hair pulled back in a ponytail. He was wearing a camouflage jacket and jeans and looked disheveled with dirty fingernails.

The woman told police she couldn't find the source of the noise.

Anyone with any information on the incident is urged to alert police by calling 442-3233, Crimestoppers at 443-2000 or dialing 911.
