If you're always on the go, Jack would love to go with you. He's a 1-year-old neutered male border collie-Pyrenees mix, which means he's by nature an active, working dog with lots of energy. At 92 pounds, he's also a big boy.
Jack had belonged to a family that kept him primarily in a small, fenced outdoor yard with another dog. With all that pent-up energy, Jack was unhappy and the family surrendered him. By nature, though, he's a happy, playful and friendly dog. He just wants to be busy.
Jack gets along well with other dogs, is fine with cats and loves kids. He's housebroken and good when inside with people, doesn't mind being picked up (by anyone strong enough to do it), and rides well in cars.
We think Jack would be a great dog for an active family that would take him along on hikes, camping or fishing trips, and make him part of their daily life. Or, he could be a great workday companion for someone with an active outdoor job.
You can meet Jack and other dogs today between noon and 3 p.m. on the downtown Walking Mall outside The Panhandler, 44 S. Park Ave. Many other adoptable dogs and cats are waiting for you at the Lewis and Clark Humane Society, 2112 East Custer Ave. The shelter's telephone number is 442-1660.
