After an upset two years ago, the House of Representatives will try to hold on to its narrowing lead over the Senate in the 15th Biennial Legislative Basketball game to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 28, at 7 p.m. at Capital High School -- tipoff is 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

While the House is still in the lead in the series, the difference became only two games with an 8 to 6 scoreboard last session when the Senate took charge of the game in the final quarter and won.

Half-time entertainment includes a "lobbyist shootout" and an airplane toss for a $100 downtown Helena shopping spree. Concession treats will also be available. The game is free but Big Brothers-Big Sisters is requesting voluntary donations at the door.

The Senate team is being coached by Sens. Joe Balyeat, R-Bozeman, and Jesse Laslovich, D-Anaconda. The House team is coached by the House speaker, Rep. Scott Sales, R-Bozeman.

The teams are both skilled, but the game is all in fun. "While each team practices hard and plays to win, the game is a friendly competition and fundraising opportunity for area children," said Executive Director Teresa Geremia-Chart. "We are grateful to our legislators for helping to raise funds to support children and families through one-to-one mentoring."
