Word has been received of the recent death of Helena native William L. (Bill) Higgins "Hig," 70, was the son of Bert and Bill Higgins and a 1954 graduate of Helena High School.

Following graduation from high school, Hig attended and received his BS degree from Montana State University (now U of M). An ardent Griz fan, he was also a longtime member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He subsequently attended the University of Washington in Seattle where he received his master's degree in accounting. He then went on to become a certified public accountant. His independent accounting contracts took him throughout the country from Houston to California and finally to Nashville, Tenn., where he finished out his professional career under contract to Vanderbilt University Hospital.

Residing in Nashville and retired at the time of his death, Hig enjoyed travel, horse racing and a good game of cards.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his wife Bobbie. He is survived by four children.
