Jacque Meyer of Helena passed away Feb. 11, 2006, at her home a little more than one day before her 75th birthday, surrounded in love by her family. She was born in Helena on Feb. 13, 1931, to Jim and Lynne Freyler and was proud to be a third generation native Montanan and a descendent of Daniel Boone.
She grew up in the Helena area and graduated from Helena High School in 1949. She was an only child whose life changed dramatically when she fell in love and married Ted Meyer in 1949, and became part of a large family. Ted and Jacque had a long and loving marriage and six children whom she loved all very dearly.
She was the ultimate loving wife and mother. After raising her children to school age, she spent several years employed by the Montana Contractors Association and the Montana Highway Patrol. In a day and age when women were not expected to work, this added a new and important dimension to her life.
Jacque enjoyed people, animals and a multitude of activities. She was artistic and enjoyed crafts, singing and she played the organ and accordion. Jacque could always be found enjoying a new book. She was a member of the Helena Symphony for years and acted in a few plays at the old Brewery Theater. Her weekly bible breakfasts at JB's restaurant were fulfilling and she enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and a good game of pinochle with family and friends. Her grandkids enjoyed many a game of cribbage and yahtzee with her. Her home was warm and open to everyone and always the special place for family gatherings on Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays and any other special occasions. The children and grandchildren always looked forward to being with her at those times and will miss her.
She was a warm-hearted, patient woman with a fun sense of humor. She had to be, having six mischievous children that constantly tested her sense of humor and patience, yet she never misplaced those qualities. She could always be counted on, and always had a pot of coffee on for her family, their friends and someone she had just met. Other people adopted lost pets - Jacque was constantly adopting people needing a friend.
She loved her grandchildren dearly and they adored her. The family additions she gained through the marriage of her children were all special to her. Those new special people in her children's lives were as important to her as her own family and they each loved her greatly in return.
Jacque is survived by her children, Jeanne Dupree of Belgrade, Bill Meyer of Billings, Carol Giese (Mike Sims), Barb Huseby (Steve), Paul Meyer (Karen) of Littleton, Colo., and Patty Dixon; grandchildren, Joe Bright, Jacque Millar (Lucas), Michelle Woods (Dietrick), Ashley Neymeyer (Jeff), Kelsey Giese, Peter Harper, Mike Dixon, Tyler Huseby, Talor Meyer, Aaron Meyer; and great-grandchildren, Lexi, Jaylen, Joe and Kade.
In her final days she talked of and was looking forward to reuniting with those she loved, who had passed before her. They include her beloved husband, Ted, who passed away in 1993; her eternal five-year-old daughter, Marilyn; her two sons-in-law, Stan Dupree and Mike Dixon; along with numerous other family and friends. She was most looking forward to meeting her Lord God.
A celebration of her life will take place Thursday, Feb. 16, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Immediately following the service, she will be interred beside her husband and daughter at the Resurrection Cemetery. This will be followed by an open reception at the Grub Steak.
