Weed pullers thanked

The City of Helena would like to express its appreciation to all those individuals who are pulling noxious weeds on public open spaces. It is through the combined efforts of pulling, using insects and chemicals that we can prevent the spread of noxious weeds. Now we ask you to take it one step further and that is to put any flowering noxious weeds that you pull into a sack and garbage them. This keeps the seeds from reseeding in the area that you just picked or moving to a different location. Again we thank you for your participation in keeping our open spaces clean and weed free. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the City of Helena's Weed Division (April-October) at 447-8458 or the Lewis and Clark County Extension Office 447-8346.

Purse returned

This world truly does have many, many wonderful, honest people. In early July, my husband and I were leaving Helena for the day. My purse was mistakenly left sitting in the rack on top of the car. As we drove down Custer Avenue, my husband heard an unusual noise. We did not pursue it because of the heavy traffic. When we arrived at our first stop, I reached for my purse, which contained my money holder, some very valuable pieces of information and my cell phone. It wasn't there! We looked throughout the car not finding it. It was decided that I must have left it at home. Later in the afternoon, while we were visiting relatives, my husband's cell phone rang. The call was coming from my cell phone. The two ladies, who were coming toward us on Custer Avenue when my purse flew off the top of our car, had stopped and picked it up and salvaged almost everything. Her concern was "where to take everything." God must have been watching, as we were blessed because of the very special, honest lady. We are very grateful. May God bless her always. Helena is a great place to live.
