Last week's Question of the Week asked readers whether they think it is time to take wolves off the list of endangered species. A majority said it is.
Among 484 responses to this unscientific survey, 311 said yes, while 173 disagreed.
Some readers' comments:
- It's time to remove wolves. What an incomprehensible act to reintroduce a predator into a ranching state.
- If wolves are removed from the list they will die. It's as simple as that. We all know how mankind feels about them. Ranchers kill them. Some of our so-called sportsmen kill them, too. For some reason people can not lighten up on these animals. They are magnificent beasts, very intelligent and family oriented. They are part of nature's balance. We have all seen how man keeps balance. Believe me, Mother Nature does a much better job. As far as I am concerned, the wolves should stay on the list and anyone who kills them should be fined. What right do we have to obliterate any species? No right at all. There is enough room for all of us. The problems with wolves are all man made. We keep moving into their homes. It affects all the creatures. Humans are very selfish.
- You really should leave these types of questions for the professional to tangle with.
