Great Conversations
What a Great Week of Great Conversations! Thanks to everyone in the Helena community and beyond who participated in the Helena Education Foundation's week of special events. A special thanks for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana for sponsoring former Olympian Mary Andrews and her presentations on Raising Healthy Kids; HKM Engineering for sponsoring astronaut Greg Olsen in his presentations to all 568 fifth graders in the Helena Public Schools, Grandstreet Theatre and staff for providing their wonderful building and expertise for the presentations and to First Student for donating buses to bring in the students from our schools.
And thanks to Alan and Nancy Nicholson, Sodexho, the Student Assistance Foundation and Plum Creek Timber Company for sponsoring Great Conversations and especially to the 41 Conversation Leaders and their 320 table guests who lit up the Great Northern Hotel with enlightening, funny and sometimes controversial discourse in an evening of lifelong learning.

Roundabouts idiotic
Can somebody please tell me why the county wastes money on something as idiotic as a roundabout? What happened to just using a four-way stop like every other street in this city. I mean don't get me wrong, I could even understand the argument if it was for a five or six road intersection. I had the displeasure of driving on the roundabout in Montana City. The county took out the upgrades they recently put in place and shoved a tiny circle of concrete into the intersection. After almost being hit twice by people not yielding, I for one am going to avoid it all together. Now I see the same idiotic government is getting ready to open another one. When I saw the picture of the roundabout in Sundays paper, I still cannot understand the logic. Wouldn't a light or even some stop signs be cheaper and as effective in controlling traffic?
