Fireworks in Valley not fun

I'd like to comment on last week's Opinion page editorial concerning the Fourth of July and fireworks. Your editorial says within the city limits fireworks are "not only illegal, but dangerous." It further states that fireworks are "perfectly legal in the county, outside city limits, and it's there that setting off fireworks is perfectly feasible, and fun." Hmmm.

Those of us who live in the valley are treated to this "fun" entertainment every day and night from the 25 or 26 of June when the fireworks stands open for business. Our pets get to be scared out of their wits for 10 days or so, or until those "having fun" get bored or run out of money. A special treat is getting to watch the various fire departments racing to put out another grass fire. It's a good thing our county commissioners have built these emergency costs into the annual budget, and that we have an Urgent Care Hospital just up the road.

Can't wait for next year; you city folks don't know what you're missing.
