Of late the liberal caucus has been pushing to change the lot in life that once had to be earned through hard work. People used to understand that hard work and determination got them a better place in life, which also brought about better rewards.
The liberal caucus would change that to one of entitlement. You are entitled to better (fill in the blank). Problem is we've seen that system fail already. Everyone is entitled to education, at least through high school. What you do with that which you've supposedly learned is up to you. You are entitled to bettering yourself, but you have to do it. It's not supposed to be a handout.
Much of this surrounds the health care dilemma we are confronting. What is the dilemma and how should it be confronted? Opinions differ. Making health care affordable for all is a problem of cost of care and cost of insurance. Simply attempting to fix one of those items doesn't fix both of them. The current plans coming out of D.C. don't do much to fix either.
Starting from a position of entitlement is not a good place to begin.
