Please correct me if I am wrong, but driving is a privilege and not a "right." Running a red light is against the law (illegal), dangerous and irresponsible. The offense is punishable by a simple fine all the way up to jail time depending on circumstances (i.e. vehicular homocide). Regardless if a peace officer is present to witness the infraction or not, the same law has been broken and the appropiate penalty should be applied. As licensed motor vehicle operators we agree to abide by the laws of the cities and states we drive in. I can not imagine a scenario that would justify a ban on the installation and utilization of red-light cameras. If you are not breaking the law, you have nothing to fear. Please help make our state a safer place to drive by supporting the use of red-light cameras. It could be your son's or daughter's life it saves.
