Rock rivers without kids

Earlier this month, I attended ";Rockin' The Rivers" near LaHood. This was my second year at the weekend party, and I was totally shocked by the number of children at the event. While I'm sure the event officials would like to press the musical side of the weekend, addressing all the bands and musical acts, the fact remains it is a weekend party. There is drinking, smoking, nudity and wild times to be had. Why are people bringing their kids to this?

Don't take this letter out of context. I am not against the weekend-long event, nor any of the things going on. As an adult, I can choose what and what not to be a part of. Kids can't, and parents should for them. The renowned ";Testicle Festival" near Missoula posts clearly on its Web site, ";No children," and this event should be no different.

Let's face it, these bands are brought here for the enjoyment of adults. How many children listen to Peter Frampton? How many children are big fans of Hells Bells, an AC/DC cover band? This music isn't for kids, so saying you are bringing the kids for the music is complete B.S.

The event is put together well, and order is kept. The place is kept clean and run well. Good work crew of RTR! Keep up the good work! Next year, maybe work on keeping out the kids. Parents, if you want to do something with your kids, go camping, hiking, fishing, etc.
