The CHIP program was passed by voters who understood what they were voting on and trusted the legislators to follow through. For Dave Lewis to say that he is worried about the state budget implies that he is also saying the voters don't matter. Montana would receive an additional $70 million in matching funds from the federal government, according to the IR article on Sunday. Lewis also said he's "just concerned about the health of the state budget." Why isn't he concerned about the health of the children who lack health coverage? Who is paying the cost for these children now? Are they on Medicaid? We all know that when citizens who are uninsured receive medical care, the cost is paid by the taxpayers and in higher premiums by those who have health insurance. I say to the Republican Party -- listen to the voters, and care about the children who need medical care. The voters had it right and we want you to do what's right.
