I am a Canadian living in Helena, and I have experienced both sides of the health care systems. It is not true from my experiences that there is a waiting game for surgery in Canada, as my father has undergone several surgeries, none of which he had to wait for.
I would love my parents to move here so they could be closer to their grandchildren, but can't because they can't afford the health care and can't afford to be without it. I have experienced a waiting game here in Montana, however. My mother had a retinal eye tear while visiting us and was told that it could not be done. She would have to wait until after the weekend. My parents drove back home and to the hospital and the surgery was done that night. There needs to be a universal system! Everyone should have access to afforable health care!
