Tax alcohol 'to death’

This letter is in response to H.J. Heisel's letter about secondhand smoke. Alcohol should be taxed "to death." Nearly 64,000 people die yearly from alcohol-related vehicle driving accidents (see Department of Transportation statistics). How many die from alcohol poisoning? How many die because of alcohol intoxication leading to murder, suicide or accidental handling of a firearm?

Alcohol is also a legalized substance that kills others involuntarily. You say you're forced to inhale secondhand smoke in grocery stores, malls, gas stations, health insurance companies, coffee shops and restaurants. My question to you is: where do you live? In what year? Did prohibition work against alcohol? Will prohibition work against tobacco? Obviously not. Human free will will prevail! Neo-nazis like you and others will fail to control human free choice to choose.

Why is alcohol still legal? Alcohol kills! Tax alcohol! No tax is too high for innocent lives lost. I'll quit smoking if everyone quits drinking. Deal? I have one drink every 3-4 months, can you do it? Probably not.
