DILLON (AP) -- Beaverhead County's road manager is out of a job. County commissioners say loss of federal funds makes it necessary to lay off Richard Miller, employed by the county for 19 years.
The action came as part of the annual budget adoption.
Commissioners approved a $5.5 million budget that included cuts in a couple of departments.
The federal money cited by commissioners had been appropriated under a law that Congress did not renew. Last year Beaverhead County got $208,000.
County Commissioner Garth Haugland says the commission will handle Miller's managerial work. Haugland says keeping Miller would have required laying off two of the road employees he supervised.
