KALISPELL (AP) -- Authorities on Friday released the name of a Columbia Falls man killed in a snowmobile crash a day earlier.
Authorities said Jeffrey Scott, 45, was traveling at a high rate of speed Thursday when he attempted to make a turn on bare, frozen ground in a field. The snowmobile's track apparently caught the dry ground and flipped, throwing Scott off, authorities said. He was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene of a head injury.
When Scott didn't return home as planned, a family member went out to search for him and found his body in the field, authorities said.
